Regional Thoracoabdominal Mobility Responses to Integrated Myofascial Release in Healthy Adults

Conditions: Thoracoabdominal Mobility

Sex: All
Ages: 18 Years – 40 Years
Healthy volunteers: Yes
Phase: NA
Enrollment: 40
Sponsor: Karabuk University

Location: Karabuk University, Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Karabük Karabük Province

Summary

his study will investigate the immediate effects of an integrated myofascial release intervention on regional thoracoabdominal mobility in healthy adults. Participants will undergo baseline assessments followed by a single standardized session of integrated myofascial release therapy targeting selected thoracic and abdominal myofascial regions. Thoracoabdominal mobility and thoracic excursion will be reassessed immediately after the intervention. The primary aim is to determine whether integrated myofascial release produces acute changes in regional thoracoabdominal mobility. The study is intended to characterize the immediate biomechanical response to the intervention in healthy adults.

Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria * Adults aged 18-40 years. * Apparently healthy individuals without a diagnosed respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological, or musculoskeletal disorder that may affect thoracic or trunk mobility. * Ability to understand the study procedures and provide written informed consent. * Ability to complete all pre- and post-intervention assessments. Exclusion Criteria * Current acute respiratory infection or other acute illness. * History of thoracic, abdominal, or spinal surgery that may affect thoracoabdominal mobility. * Current musculoskeletal pain or injury involving the thorax, spine, shoulder girdle, or abdominal region. * Known neurological or systemic disease affecting mobility or soft tissue function. * Pregnancy. * Receipt of manual therapy, myofascial release, or similar treatment targeting the thoracoabdominal region within the recent period defined in the study protocol. * Any contraindication to manual myofascial release or inability to tolerate the intervention.
