Volatile Non-Invasive Biomarkers of Epileptic Seizures

Summary

The plan of this study will be to collect breath samples and sebum swabs before and at different times after an epileptic seizure or a non-epileptic attack.

Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria:Patients who have been admitted to either University College London's Queen's Square EEG-telemetry unit or Chalfont Centre for Epilepsy, for diagnosis of seizure events.Patients aged 18 years or aboveExclusion Criteria:Patients with active infection or who have taken antibiotics within 4 weeksPatients on immunosuppressive medicationsPatients with co-morbidities preventing breath collectionPatients unable to provide informed consent.
