Summary
This study aims to identify predictors of migraine onset in adolescent girls using MRI, sensory testing, hormone blood analysis, and surveys.Aim 1.
To identify psychophysical and neural factors predicting migraine onset in adolescent girlsAim 2. To determine hormonal, psychophysical, and neural changes associated with migraine onset.
Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria:Age 10-13Females (biological sex and gender)At the early pubertal status and/or pre-menarcheNot diagnosed with migraineWith a first degree relative diagnosed with migraine (for the Fam-His group) or without a first or a second degree relative diagnosed with migraine (for the No-Fam-His group)Exclusion Criteria:Diagnosis of any chronic pain syndromeDiagnosis of a neurological, developmental, or psychiatric disorderTaking pain or psychiatric medications regularlyHaving an MRI contraindication such as metal in the body or claustrophobiaNot able to understand and communicate in English
